Inspired by Daniel Galvin Junior

Posted: 30 July 2010

Last Saturday, as a birthday treat, I had my hair cut at the new salon recently opened by Daniel Galvin Junior. I’m no expert, but for me it was just fabulous! The salon is luxurious and so well laid out, with friendly and helpful staff, groovy music videos playing on a state-of-the-art TV, and the most comfortable leather massage chairs, in which I had a luxury hair-washing and hot steam treatment. Daniel has been doing interesting things for a while now, and this flagship store really does demonstrate his talent and vision.

In the world of consumer products, Daniel has been instrumental in changing the world of beauty for the better and uses organic ingredients in his own-label Daniel Galvin Junior haircare and styling products. He also developed the Duchy beauty range for HRH Prince Charles. The new Duchy range, launched exclusively in Waitrose in October 2009, is one of the first ranges to be awarded Soil Association certification and has high-specification recycled and recyclable packaging, which is eco-friendly and bio-degradable. Not only are these products Soil Associated-certified, but they also have a royal warrant.

Finally, after the birth of his son in 2000, Daniel became interested in what went into baby shampoos, so he started to do some research on the ingredients in them. He discovered that chemical ingredients found in hair products can ‘charge up’ kids like sugary junk food – who’d have guessed? So he launched a kids range that is simply brilliant! Visionary, fabulous and ethical to boot – who else falls into that camp? Let me know moira@thembsgroup.co.uk.
