Carrefour Considers A Merger In Brazil

The global supermarket chain, which yesterday announced a new partnership with Ocado, has received a proposal backed by the Brazilian National Development Bank to merge its Brazilian assets with those of Companhia Brasileira De Distribuicao (Grupo Pao de Acucar). The merger is being considered by Carrefour’s board, and would create Brazil’s largest retailer.
