Facebook May Face €100,000 Fine

An Austrian law student has discovered that the social networking site held approximately 1,200 pages of data about him despite much of it being deleted by him previously, resulting in a possible €100,000 fine for Facebook. The student, Max Schrems, lodged 22 separate complaints against Facebook with the Irish data protection commissioner, which next week is to carry out its first audit of the site.
