France Telecom-Orange Announces Congolese Acquisition

The French telecoms firm has announced the acquisition of Congo Chine Télécom (CCT), a mobile operator in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. France Telecom-Orange is to buy a 51% share of CCT’s equity from ZTE, the Chinese handset manufacturer, for US$10m. It will acquire the remaining 49% share from the Congolese government for US$7m.
