Microsoft Is Close To A Deal For Skype

In a deal that could increase competition with Google and Apple, Microsoft is close to acquiring the video conferencing service for US$8.5bn. The deal would be the biggest in the 36-year history of the world’s largest software company, and would mark a shift in focus towards the mobile and internet arenas.
