Microsoft To Pay US$290m For Patent Infringement

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the technology giant must pay US$290m to a small Canadian company for patent infringement. The company, i4i, filed a suit against Microsoft in 2007, claiming it owned the technology behind a tool used in Microsoft’s Word application. An appeal against the order has been denied.
