RIM To Acquire NewBay In A Move Towards The Cloud

The BlackBerry manufacturer is to acquire cloud-based services company NewBay Software. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the deal is thought to be worth approximately US$100m. In separate news, BlackBerry users throughout Europe and the Middle East suffered a 20-hour blackout in services yesterday due to server problems at RIM’s Slough data centre. All services have now been restored.
