The Co-op reports like-for-like sales up 3.5% over the Christmas trading period

The group benefitted from its investments in stores, focus on convenience and advertising campaign in the run-up to the festive period. The Co-op opened more than 100 stores in 2016, with a £70m investment in food brands and £60m in refurbishments.
