Champagne Life: a celebration of women

Marking its 30th anniversary, the Saatchi Gallery opened its first all-women show, last week. It brings together the work of 14 artists including Julia Wachtel whose 2014 piece gives the name ‘Champagne Life’ to the exhibition. The title is meant to be ironic and highlight the contrast between the glamour associated with the art world and the reality of the hard work behind the production of art pieces. As stated by Nigel Hurst, Saatchi’s CEO, the show aims at celebrating the important role that women are playing in contributing to the contemporary art practice, which is not often recognised by the highest levels in the industry. You have time to enjoy this exhibition until 9th March and in the meantime you can read more about the artists and their works here.
