The MBS Group is delighted to present in-depth research into diversity in the hospitality, travel, leisure and retail sectors, published as part of WiHTL & DiR’s annual report.
This analysis draws on data captured from the 200 biggest businesses in HTL and retail, plus in-depth conversations with Chairs, CEOs and HRDs about the steps being taken to move the dial.
We found that there’s real momentum to build an industry in which everyone is welcome. Although there have been some areas of progress, there are still some that are falling behind, and require deliberate action:
• There continue to be very few women in the critical CEO, Chair and CFO positions across HTL and retail
• All-white boards have dropped from nearly half last year to 35% this year in HTL, but sits higher in retail at 45%
• The pace of progress on ethnic diversity at Board level in HTL and retail has been significant.
• Few businesses can identify a physically disabled leader among their top 3 levels, but a vast majority can identify an LGBTQ+ leader
• A large majority – 98% of retail and 95% of HTL – companies now have coordinated D&I strategies
