Why Burberry’s new boss Marco Gobbetti should be a great fit

Becky Waller-Davies at Retail Week analyses Burberry’s latest appointment of Marco Gobbetti to CEO of the British label. Coming from French design house Céline, wehre we spent the past eight years, Gobbetti may be an unfamiliar name in retail but he is the one that contributed to Cline’s double-digit sales CAGR and significantly expanded EBIT margin. Burberry will no doubt benefit from the skillset brought by the Italian CEO and as Moira Benigson, our managing partner, stated he will be great on the sales and business side and a facilitator for creative director Christopher Bailey.
