Jing Cao and Melissa Mittleman at Bloomberg analyses the latest acquisition of the online men’s razor merchant by Unilever for $1bn, five times the revenue that Dollar Shave Club is expected to bring in this year. In examining the uniqueness of the relationship the startup has developed with men, they recognised the limited number of competitors with the same assets and the same attractiveness.
