The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) produces trusted, independent, and evidence-based guidelines and appraisals of medicines, diagnostics, devices and digital technologies (including AI). NICE supports healthcare practitioners and commissioners to get the best care to patients fast, with the goal of continually improving outcomes whilst delivering value for the taxpayer. Established to create more equitable population health outcomes, NICE has evolved to become a globally renowned organisation, respected for its transparency, rigour and excellence in evidence-based health and care.
The Director for HealthTech Evaluation is integral to NICE’s mission, and to the senior leadership team. The successful candidate will lead NICE’s healthtech evaluation team (working across devices, diagnostics and digital technologies, including AI) and external consultancy team, NICE Advice. They will collaborate closely with key stakeholders including clinicians, commissioners, voluntary sector organisations, national partners and industry leaders to ensure NICE’s healthtech evaluation programme continually evolves and enhances the value of medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health technologies for the benefit of patients and the health and care system. They will lead an energetic, user-focused, programme to provide high quality, evidence-based advice, to assess value for money, to arrange ongoing data collection for healthtech products and services with the most potential, and to provide information on the safety and efficacy of new interventional procedures.
NICE is committed to building a vibrant, diverse and inclusive organisation, therefore we particularly welcome applications from historically under-represented groups, including people with a disability and members of minority ethnic communities. We are committed to supporting flexible working: this role may be based in either London or Manchester, where NICE has offices, and the successful candidate should expect to spend roughly two days per week in the office.
