Managing director of Spar International, Dr Gordon Campbell, has reported that worldwide retail sales grew by more than €1.3bn in 2010, leading to an overall turnover of €29.8bn. Two major milestones were reached by the group in the past year, with the opening of Spar’s first hypermarket in China in September, and its first outlet in Delhi, India, opened in January of this year.
